Alors que la guerre des clones ravage la galaxie, la situation est désespérée sur la lointaine planète Drongar. Une situation douloureusement claire, dans la jungle moite de Jasserak, où une petite unité de médecins et d'infirmières tente de faire face. Alors que morts et blessés s'amoncellent, les chirurgiens Jos Vandar et Kornell " Uli " Divini comprennent que le temps leur est compté. Même les pouvoirs Jedi de la Padawan Barriss Offee sont poussés à leurs limites. Une mise à l'épreuve qui pourrait bien causer sa perte. Le conflit s'aggrave, et pour cette obscure unité médicale, il ne reste plus qu'une seule solution. Choquante, audacieuse, sans précédent, c'est la dernière option envisageable pour Jos et ses compagnons. L'impensable est désormais inévitable. Savoir s'ils survivront est un autre débat...

Au cours d'une bataille acharnée pour le contrôle des usines de Drongar, la planète jungle, une petite équipe médicale essaye tant bien que mal de soulager les nombreux blessés. Parmi eux, deux chirurgiens : l'un cherche à combattre con désespoir à grands coups d'amour sardonique tandis que l'autre décide de faire face à la mort et à la misère en trouvant refuge dans la musique. Il y a également cette infirmière qui se consacre corps et âme aux blessés en gardant un oeil sur son séduisant maître. Et Barriss Offee, une jeune Padawan, qui s'interroge sur le sens de sa mission. Pendant ce temps, d'autres s'efforcent de tirer profit de cette guerre, en développant le marché noir, ou en tentant d'influer sur le cours des événements. Pourtant, tous seront appelés à faire face à des épreuves individuelles. Et seuls les coeurs compatissants et les esprits sereins pourront espérer combattre un jour de plus...
